DIY DSLR Camera Bag

I recently purchased a DSLR camera and only the basic accessories needed; lens, battery, memory card, and insurance. For some reason I assumed a camera bag came with that camera.  NOPE, camera bags only come in package deals and I wasn’t looking to buy a huge package that had accessories I wouldn’t be making use of.

Not getting a camera bag was not a huge deal since the stock camera bags aren’t the cutest. But I was in need of a bag that would protect my camera and would hold my accessories as well. So I set on an online search for a cute camera bag that was roomy but not too big since I currently only have one lens. I hit a virtual wall quick. The cheapest decent looking bag I found was $150, and it just held the camera body and a lens no larger than 18-135mm.

So, I decided to put my own bag together. I purchase a shockproof padded camera bag liner & a mini backpack in the size I was looking for.  Both the liner and the mini backpack only cost me $40 on Amazon.

Backpack Dimensions: 11″L x 5.5″W x 11.8″H

Liner Dimensions: 8.7″ x 8.2″ x 4.3″ inches

The size is perfect. I have room to carry my mini tripod, my charger, and still have plenty of room for a second lens and personal belongings.

If you happen to be in search for a camera bag but don’t want to spend too much, you may want to make your own camera bag.

If you don’t mind spending on a camera bag, but you just aren’t finding a cute one, you may want to purchase a purse or backpack you like and add a shockproof padded camera bag liner.

Your DIY camera bag can be as inexpensive or as expensive as you’d like, but the significant part about DIY is that you get to make a bag that you genuinely love.

Let me know if you end up making your camera bag; I’d love to see how yours turns out.
